Poland is an important regional partner for Estonia, defense cooperation is getting more and more close, including in NATO and the European Union. In November 2011, Poland joined the NATO Cyber Defense Competence Center in Tallinn.
Poland’s contribution to the policing of Baltic airspace has been noteworthy. On January 2, 2020, the Polish fighter planes have guarded the airspace of the Baltic countries for the first time from Ämari, and as part of the rotating schedule also from Šiauliai, Lithuania. Since 2006, Poland regularly participates in Estonian exercises, including Spring Storm (Kevadtorm) and SIIL. An example of good defense cooperation is the cooperation of the Estonian-Polish defense forces on the Polish-Belarusian border (2021-2022) and the Estonian-Polish joint procurement for the acquisition of Piorun air defense.
